It is not a secret that Bollywood beauty Lara Dutta is a
beauty with brains. This was demonstrated when she scored
the highest possible marks in the history of the Miss
Universe Contest. After this she was crowned Miss Universe
2000, making history as not only the most beautiful but
also the most intelligent young woman to wear this crown
in the history of Miss Universe.
Lara was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, on April
6, 1978. Her dad is a retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta,
while her mom, Jennifer, is half Scottish and half Indian.
Lara has two sisters, one of whom serves in the Indian Air
Force, and is the cousin of Nitin Sawhney.
In 1981 the Dutta family re-located to Bangalore, where
Lara was enrolled in the Frank Anthony Public School.
After graduating from school, she then went on to earn a
degree in Economics from Bombay University. She is fluent
in both Hindi and English.
In 1997 Lara enrolled and subsequently won the Miss
Gladrags competition, leading her to represent India at
the Miss Intercontinental, and thereafter being crowned
Miss Universe in 2000 in Cyprus, making her the second
Indian to win this prestigious award.
After completing her Miss Universe commitments, she
received several offers from Bollywood movie makers, and
starred in Andaaz in 2003, which won her considerable
recognition, and she subsequently won the best female
debut award from Femina.
Thereafter, most of her movies failed to make a mark at
the box office, however, she did become popular and a
household name. Some of the movies she is remembered for
are 'Masti', 'No Entry, and 'Kaal'.
As of 2007, her forthcoming movies include 'Partner', 'Hey
Baby', 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', 'London Dreams', 'Dulha Mil
Gaya, amongst others.
She is also known for her sense of humor, and a talent for
writing. She has now announced that she will writing
scripts, and hopes that one day someone from Bollywood
will make flicks out of them.
Was offered a role in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The
Matrix Revolutions (2003), but turned the part down
because she didn't like the script.
Angered at the leading fashion magazine "Gladrags" for
allegedly using her photographs for a forthcoming modeling
contest without her permission, Lara has filed a suit in
the Bombay High Court.

was born to Wg. Cdr. L.K. Dutta and Jennifer Dutta in
Ghaziabad. Lara is a model by profession. At the age of 16
she left her home from bangalore to come to mumbai and
realize her dreams. Before Miss universe she was a
successful print and ramp model. She was first discovered
by Gladrags' annual modeling competition. After winning
Miss Intercontinental in Germany, she started to build up
a very successful modeling career on a national scale. She
appeared in ads. for Synergie, Ceat, Coke and Sprite which
made her popular. She participated in the Miss Femina
India contest and won the title which paved her way to the
Miss Universe Crown. A mix between Punjabi and Scottish

Lara has embarked on another path the road to stardom in
Bollywood. Her debut film was Andaaz. She got the film
fare award for Andaaz as a new comer. The film and its
