Due to all these reasons the food
does not get digested even if it has been
taken at proper time and wholesome as well as
light to digest. The common symptoms of
indigestion are stasis of food in the stomach,
malaise, headache, fainting, giddiness,
stiffness in back and waist, yawning, body
ache, thirst, fever, vomiting, griping,
anorexia and improper digestion of the food.
Types
of indigestion with symptoms and
causes:
Amajeerna - Heaviness in
abdomen, nausea, belching and
slight edema on the cheeks and
below eyelids. Ama is toxin and
can cause various symptoms. It can
also vitiate other doshas and
produce specific symptoms:

Ama with Pitta aggravation
– Burning, thirst, diseases of
mouth, hyperacidity and other
pitta disease.
(2)
Ama with Kapha aggravation
– Acute cold and diseases like
diabetes and rajayakshma.
(3)
Ama with Vata aggravation –
Different types of Vata
disorders.
Vishthabdhajeerna -
Different type of pains and aches
in the abdomen and in the body
like headache backache etc. gas in
the abdomen, which does not move
at all, and various types of
Vataja disorders like obstruction
to the flatus and feces,
stiffness, confusion and bodyache.
Vidagdhajeerna - Vertigo,
thirst, fainting, and various
other disorders due to Pitta like
smoky and acidic eructation’s,
perspiration and burning sensation
in stomach.
Dinapaki – ajeerna -
Usually the food is well digested
within 24 hours. But if it is
taken in excess then it requires
more time for digestion. Actually
there are no signs and symptoms of
indigestion.
Remedies and
precautions:
Fasting till the agni is proper
and then giving manda, peya,
vilepi till it is restored back to
normal should be done. The diet
should consists of old rice and
light vegetable soup of spinach
with warm water. Avoid all heavy
and fried foods and cold drinks.
Excess sweet, milk and its
products which are heavy for
digestion and meat of animals. |
