Russian the national language of Russia is the most
geographically widespread language of Eurasia. There are about
167 million native speakers of the language who provide it an
honour to be the sixth widely spoken language by native
speakers. Russian has the status of official language in
Abkhazia (Georgia), Belarus, Crimea (Ukraine), Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, South Ossetia (Georgia), Transnistria (Moldova),
United Nations and Commonwealth of Independent States. It is
also spoken by sizeable Russian communities residing in North
America, especially in large urban centers of the U.S. and
Canada such as New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Baltimore, Miami, Chicago, and
the Cleveland suburb of Richmond Heights. Large number of
Russian speaking communities are also found in Germany, the
United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Brazil,
Norway, and Turkey. |
