Hallmark
A hallmark is an official mark made in metal to indicate the
fineness of the metal and the manufacturer’s mark. For example, a
hallmark of 925 clarifies that there is 925 parts of gold per
1000 weight. Some hallmarks indicate the maker of the piece and
sometimes the year of manufacture.
Hammered Metal
Metals that have been formed, shaped, or
decorated by a metalworker’s hammer. There are many hammered metals are
frequently used in jewelry like gold, silver,
brass, aluminum, etc.
Hardness
It is the resistance of a substance against scratching. It is
measured on the Mohs Scale of Hardness.
Heat treatment
A heating treatment given to stones in order to increase the color or clarity
of the stone. For example, blue-green aquamarine becomes blue
with heat treatment and brown zircon becomes blue or clear.
Heliotrope
The common name of this stone is bloodstone. It is an inexpensive
type of chalcedony that is green with red highlights.

A simple and ancient
jewelry fastener used to attach the two ends of a
necklace or bracelet.
